The kitchen ell goes cold first.

Triple-deckers lose heat in the ell off the kitchen. That bay freezes before the bathrooms do. Tom thaws the line with a heat gun, then finds why that bay went cold. He does not pour boiling water on PVC. He does not leave the pipe bare once the water is moving.

If the pipe has already split, the water stays off until the split is out of the line. Open faucets downstairs so a thaw upstairs does not fill the ceiling.

The night number is the shop number. Bursts and frozen lines that are about to split, any night. A dripping faucet waits until morning. Saturday afternoon notes wait until Monday unless the water is going somewhere it should not.
